Former Ole Miss Student Plead Not Guilty to Noose Around Statue Neck

The statue of James Meredith, the first black man admitted to the University of Mississippi, was found to have a noose and Georgia flag around its neck in February of 2014.

Graeme Phillip Harris plead not guilty in court in Oxford Friday. Harris is looking at federal charges of conspiracy to violate civil rights and threatening and intimidating students because of their color.

Harris was in the Sig Ep fraternity at Ole Miss at the time. It’s 11 years in the pen if he’s found guilty.

Harris bonded out on $10,000 but his travel is restricted between Northern Mississippi and Georgia for school.

Harris stands trial starting May 18th.
