JACKSON, Miss.- Former State Senator Tommy Robertson has been indicted on five counts of embezzlement, which are believed to have happened in April of 2013.

State Auditor Stacey Pickering and Jackson County District Attorney Tony Lawrence made that announcement Monday.

Pickering says, Robertson, 59, is accused of using his position as board attorney for the Singing River Federal Credit Union to embezzle $484,092 of loan proceeds which he held in trust for the purpose of distributing the funds in accordance with the applicable loan statements.

Robertson surrendered himself to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and was released on $50,000 bond.

Pickering worked with the sheriff’s office and the district attorney’s office on the investigation.
