Four men in Natchez have been charged for the murder of a pregnant 17-year-old over the weekend.

17-year-old Shakkeria King was gunned down outside of the Holiday Apartments in the early morning hours of Sunday, according to Chief Walter Armstrong. An investigation led to the arrest of 17-year-old Montreal Brown, 18-year-old Curtavius Knight, 21-year-old Nicholas McGrew, and 17-year-old Carianta Allen.

All four suspects have been charged with Murder, Murder of an Unborn Child, Aggravated Assault, and Drive-By Shooting. Armstrong went on to say that officials believe that this shooting may be in retaliation to a shooting that occurred in early July, which resulted in the death of Montez Brown, Montreal’s brother. The retaliation may also date back to an aggravated assault in 2017, which Montez was allegedly a part of.

Armstrong also stated that the shootings may be gang-related. Officials are still working to determine if King was targeted by the suspects or if she was “in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
