Freeze Warning issued by National Weather Service until 9 a.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for the following areas in Mississippi. The NWS posted the following update on their website this morning:

FREEZE WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM CDT THIS MORNING.

Alert area: Attala; Bolivar; Carroll; Choctaw; Claiborne; Clay; Grenada; Hinds; Holmes; Humphreys; Issaquena; Kemper; Lauderdale; Leake; Leflore; Lowndes; Madison; Montgomery; Neshoba; Newton; Noxubee; Oktibbeha; Rankin; Scott; Sharkey; Sunflower; Warren; Washington; Webster; Winston; Yazoo

Temperatures will fall to or below freezing this morning, and linger until mid-morning.

Impacts…Temperatures below freezing could damage or kill crops and other sensitive vegetation. Plan now to protect any sensitive outdoor plants from these cold temperatures.

Temperatures are expected to rise as the day progresses.
