Funeral arrangements set for fallen Jackson police officer

JACKSON – Jackson Police Department Cpl. Allen Harper Jr. passed away on Friday morning around 8:52 a.m. after an off duty motorcycle injury. 

Harper was riding his motorcycle on Saturday, April 1, when he was injured in a crash on High and State Streets. He was taken to the hospital and expected to improve, but things took a turn for the worst on Friday April, 7.

Harper served with the Jackson Police Department for over 20 years. He is survived by his wife, Chequetta Harper.

After his death was confirmed his family released this statement:

“The family of Corporal Allen J. Harper, Jr. is deeply saddened to inform you that Allen made his transition into heaven this [Friday] morning at 8:52 a.m. On Saturday April 1, 2017, Allen was involved in a motorcycle accident. We are relieved that his passing was peaceful and painless. Even in his death, he was a hero by giving the gift of life through organ donation. Funeral arrangements are currently being made. Funeral arrangements have been set for the following:

Public Viewing: 

Thursday April 13, 2017, 1:00-6:00 p.m. at Jackson Memorial Funeral home, 922 W. Woodrow Wilson Ave. Jackson MS 39213.

Funeral Service: 

Friday, April 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at New Horizon Church, 1770 Ellis Ave. Jackson MS 39204.

Burial will immediately follow: 

Garden Memorial Park Cemetery, 8001 US 49, Jackson MS 39209.
