Gas price projections through year’s end show stability

JACKSON, Miss. – AAA has announced that gas prices are projected to remain above $2.00 for the remainder of the year.

Don Redmon is with AAA and said: ”When we look at November of 2015, statewide average was about $1.91 a gallon, right now state wide average is about $2.05 a gallon. I don’t think we are going to see prices cheaper than this time last year. I think if anything, we’ll still stay above $2.00 a gallon through the remainder of the year.”

As of Wednesday, the state wide average was at $2.03.

Gas prices can be effected in numerous ways. Redmon mentioned that the recent explosion of the Colonial pipeline in Alabama will most likely lead to  prices hikes in the Southeastern part of the U.S.

Mississippians can look forward to the possibility of lower gas prices in the new year.

“Typically the best prices that you’ll see during the calendar year are between January and February,” said Redmon.
