Mission Mississippi Hosts Prayer Luncheon, Dialogue on Race

JACKSON, Miss.- State elected officials gathered at the Convention Center in Downtown Jackson on Thursday, all with one common goal in mind. Mission Mississippi is a Christian-valued movement committed to nurturing the relationship between predominant races in Mississippi, but really to reconcile all lines that divide the Body of Christ.

On Thursday, they brought together the Governor and many highly-respected Christian leaders from across the state for a time of discussion, dialogue, and prayer.

The special guest at the event was New Orleans Saints tight end, and founder of the One More Foundation, Benjamin Watson. Watson is known for his Christian response to the Ferguson and New York race-related incidents. His most quoted line is “It’s not a SKIN problem. It’s a SIN problem.”

“We’re having dialogue about race.” Watson said. “That’s something that’s really important right now, obviously in light of the recent events that have been happening. I’m just really excited to be here and approach this topic from a Christian perspective.”

Former Ole Miss and New Orleans Saints Deuce McAlister was also keeping a low profile in the audience.
