Governor comments on judge ruling to block Obama transgender bathroom directive

JACKSON, MISS– A federal judge in Texas blocked President Barack Obama’s directive to allow transgender students to choose their bathroom at school on Monday.

Governor Phil Bryant took to Facebook following the decision to show support, vowing to continue to fight federal overreach in this matter.

“I am encouraged by the court’s decision and look forward to continuing to fight this absurd overreach by the federal government,” said Governor Bryant. “Like I have repeatedly said, Mississippi schoolchildren should not be forced to participate in the president’s social experiment.”

The directive came down in May and called for public schools to allow students to choose the bathroom which matches their gender identity.
