Governor Considers Drug Testing People on TANF

JACKSON, Miss. – Should people on Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) be drug tested? Governor Phil Bryant says Florida is already drug testing people on TANF and wants to suggest doing that to the Mississippi Legislature.

“We need to know if someone has an addictive environment, abusing drugs. We have got to go about seeking a treatment program to try to get them clean and sober if they are going to take care of their children,” said Bryant

He says it is also hard to get people into work force training programs if they are using drugs.
