Governor creates task force to study heroin, opioid abuse

JACKSON, MISS– An executive order issued by Governor Phil Bryant Tuesday aims to create a Heroin and Opioid Study Task Force.

The force will review a growing problem in Mississippi– heroin and opioid addiction.

“I have issued an executive order that creates the Opioid and Heroin Study Task Force, whose members will recommend best practices to fight opioid and heroin abuse in Mississippi,” said Gov. Bryant. “We are committed to protecting our citizens from the scourge of drug abuse and addiction.”

According to the executive order, members will be appointed by the governor himself. That task force will meet as often as needed to study the problem at hand with heroin and opioid addiction, and those recommendations will be made to the governor.
