A grandmother has been charged for the murder of her granddaughter in Bolivar County.

After a family member found 20-month-old Royalty Marie Floyd dead inside of a heated oven at a home in Shaw on Monday night, 48-year-old Carolyn Jones has been charged for her murder.

The baby had also been stabbed, and investigators are working to determine if Floyd had died prior to being put into the heated oven.

The Bolivar County Sheriff’s Department stated that Jones was living at the home on Martin Luther King Drive. Currently, no motive has been given in the case.

Jones has officially been charged with First-Degree Murder and her bond has been set at $500,000.

Floyd’s mother, Veronica Jones, posted the following message to her Facebook page stating that she believes the suspect loved Royalty.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation responded to the scene, and the State Crime Lab is assisting with the investigation, which is still ongoing.
