Greenwood Ex-Mayor Wants Her Job Back, Challenges in Court

GREENWOOD, Miss.–Greenwood’s mayor is Carolyn McAdams after a win by 206 votes in the general election earlier this month. But that tally doesn’t satisfy the ex-mayor, Sheriel Perkins, who, after being twice rejected by voters, is using the court to try and get her job back.

Perkins (D), according to the Greenwood Commonwealth, the newspaper serving Greenwood and the south Delta, says there were some votes that were not counted for her on purpose. She also says there were illegal votes that were counted for McAdams.

She wants the judge to throw out the results of the election and declare her the new mayor. Or, she wants a new election.
