GREENWOOD. Miss — Greenwood Rep. Willie Perkins is suing the Mississippi Department of Education and Governor Phil Bryant. Perkins says Leflore County Schools have been underfunded by at least $6 million since 2010 because of underfunding to the Mississippi Adequate Education Program.
The lawsuit also claims the Department of Education violated due process rights when the district’s superintendent and school board members got the boot last fall as part of a school takeover.
