Group sleeps in park to raise awareness for homeless

JACKSON,Miss.- Mississippi Move and Phi Beta Sigma are raising awareness for the homeless in an admirable way.

The group slept in the Poindexter Park Tuesday night to show what homeless people go through all the time. This is the second year the group has sponsored this event, reports WAPT.

Jackson City Councilman De’Keither Stamps was one of the individuals who participated in the overnight event. He told WAPT that something like this is just another way of visiting constituents in their living room.

Volunteers at the event also raised money for families who lost their homes due to a fire at an apartment building in Raymond this week.
