Gunn appoints Suggs to state board of education

Friday, Speaker of the House Philip Gunn announced his appointment of Sean Suggs to the Mississippi State Board of Education.

Suggs currently serves as Vice President of Manufacturing for Toyota Mississippi.

“In the search for my appointment to the State Board of Education, I wanted to find a person with a good balance of private sector experience and educational experience,” said Speaker Gunn. “With Sean’s leadership position at Toyota and his vast knowledge of workforce development, I am confident he will bring a unique perspective to the Board of Education.”

Suggs will begin serving on the Board immediately as a recess appointment.

His full appointment will be subject to an approval by the Mississippi State Senate in the 2018 Legislative Session.

Suggs will fill the position vacated by Bill Jones from Petal. This is a nine-year appointment.
