Hancock Co. mans body found in Louisiana

Hancock County officials confirmed that a body found off of I-10 in Louisiana is that of a missing Hancock County man. 

Chief Deputy Don Bass with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that the body of 54-year-old Philip Sherman Whitaker was found on Wednesday Nov. 15, just a week after he was last seen at a Harrison County pharmacy.

Whitaker was found rolled up in a piece of carpet on the Michoud on-ramp in Orleans Parish.

The sheriff’s department is working with New Orleans police in an active investigation on the death. They are searching for a maroon Toyota Sienna, with the tag number KAG 619 that is linked to the investigation.
