Harmon Takes American Idol Win, Renae Not Empty Handed

JACKSON, MISS– Trent Harmon of Amory is the final winner of American Idol.

La’Porsha Renae of McComb didn’t go home empty handed though, as she was offered a record deal with Motown Records.

Trent Harmon introduced himself as a Mississippi farm boy working in his family’s restaurant bringing not just farm-to-table but “yard-to-table” southern food.

Close to his family as he is, he didn’t even tell them he would be trying out for American Idol. Even though they were supportive, they didn’t join him until the finals as to not distract him.

Being the final episode, many of the well-known faces united for a farewell episode, with the top names being Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, and Jennifer Hudson.

After the win, Harmon says the run with Renae pushed him.

“It’s God’s will!” he cried as he hugged Renae. “I worked so hard and she pushed me to do it.”
