Hattiesburg Mayoral Candidate Withdraws From Race

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – You will have one less candidate to choose from in the special election for Mayor of Hattiesburg.  Nathan Jordan is withdrawing his name.

Jordan had said his name was missing from ballots in some polling stations during the earlier election.  “If you name is not on the ballot, it’s tough to win,” he said in his written statement.  “…after the financial burden of a campaign, the wasted energy and resources, I have decided to no longer seek or be a candidate for the position of mayor of Hattiesburg.”

Jordan said he will focus his attention now on his church and has endorsed another candidate.  “I have decided to campaign for and support Dave Ware, whom I believe has the best interest of the citizens of Hattiesburg in mind.”

The special election is set for September 24.
