The Heat, Not So Bad Today Through the Weekend; Heat-Related Death Reported

JONES COUNTY, Miss.–You may have gotten used to triple-digit heat indices, but odds are not really. Now you can get used to low 90s again for a while. Rain may actually help to keep it cooler, too, as you look at Friday and Saturday.

You can expect low 90s all across Mississippi for Tuesday. It may warm up a couple of degrees for Wednesday.

The only place looking at a chance for rain is north.

That’ll change for Friday and Saturday when the whole state will see substantial chances for afternoon storms. That could last into Sunday, too.

In Jones County over the weekend, William Deavours died when temps got over 100 and the 85-year-old took a walk in the woods with a friend.

The coroner there told WDAM that neither one had their cell phone or water and Deavours’ friend had to hike out of the woods to get help.

Deavours’ body was found about a mile from where their car was parked.
