Holiday Travel Fairly Safe, So Far

JACKSON, Miss. — State troopers are handing out a lot of traffic tickets this Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend.

As of Friday morning, more than 600 of them had been written.  About 20 tickets went to people who were not buckled up or did not have their children properly fastened in a car seat.

At least five people have been arrested for DUI, two for felonies and one for drugs.  Troopers have also worked about 30 accidents; one alcohol related.  More than a dozen people were hurt in those crashes, but on one killed.  The holiday enforcement period continues through Sunday, December 1..
