Hostess recalls product over salmonella worries

JACKSON, Miss.- Hostess has issued a recall of their white peppermint Twinkies due to concerns of salmonella.

The Hostess Brand recalled the Holiday White Peppermint Hostess Twinkies because the company that created the coating for the sweet treat, Blommer Chocolate Company, issued a recall of their own. Officials believe that the milk powder used in the mixture could have been contaminated with salmonella.

No illnesses have been reported, but Hostess is warning consumers not to eat the snack.

Palmer Candy Co. has also recalled 22 of its products including two Publix-brand products for contamination.

“We are truly sorry for any distress this recall causes to our retail customers and consumers. We remain committed to the highest standards of food quality and safety. We are taking this recall very seriously and truly appreciate the cooperation of our customers as we work to resolve this matter promptly,” President and Chief ExecutiveOfficer of Palmer Candy said.

If you have recently purchased these snacks, you can head back to the store for a refund.
