House Minority Leader asks Governor for special session

JACKSON, MISS– House Minority Leader David Baria has penned a letter to Governor Phil Bryant which requested a special session. 

The open letter released to media acknowledge the possibility of a special session to address the budget for fiscal year 2017, as well as the protocol for state agency money that will be changed.

“You have expressed concerns over the Budget Transparency and Simplification Act eliminating inter-agency transfers/billing,” Baria wrote. “And the Attorney General has opined that portions of the Act are not legal.”

Baria said with impacts of this new law unknown, state agencies are concerned about the loss of federally-matched funds.
