Ice Patch Being Blamed in Wreck That Killed Mom, Daughters

NEW ALBANY, Miss.–A wreck Friday morning that killed a mother and her two daughters in Pontotoc County is being blamed on a patch of ice on the road. Catina McBride, 29, and her 11-year-old daughter Kaninya Guyton died at the scene. Kadiya McBride, 5, died after being airlifted to LeBonheur Hospital in Memphis.

The Miss. Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Troopers said in a news release that it appears McBride hit a patch of ice and lost control of her car on Hwy. 9, northbound, near the Randolph community, about 10:15 a.m.

She flipped several times. An 8-year-old child was still in critical condition at the hospital.

Troopers said it looks like no one in the car was wearing a seat belt.
