Independence Day Also Voter Registration Deadline

JACKSON, Miss. – This Fourth of July  is also the deadline to register to vote in the August 4 primary election.  Secretary of State Delbert Hoseman said circuit clerks statewide have been reminded that their offices must be open from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.

“This is a big election year in Mississippi,’ Hosemann said in a written statement.  “Most statewide offices are on the ballot.  We encourage you to take the time to educate yourself on the candidates and participate in the electoral process by registering to vote today.”

Mail-in voter registration applications must be postmarked no later than Friday, July 3.  Hosemann said if they come in after July 4, the applications will be processed by the Circuit Clerk, but the voter will not be eligible for the August 4 election.
