MERIDIAN, Miss.–An asthma attack may have been what killed inmate David Lee Chapman, who was a regular at the Lauderdale County Jail. The Miss. Bureau of Investigation is now looking into his death, that happened about 8:30 Wednesday morning.

WTOK reported Chapman, who was in on a felony DUI charge, was found unresponsive in the booking area. Coroner Clayton Cobbler told the TV station that he believed the cause of death was respiratory failure because of asthma.

Chapman, of Newton, was a regular at the jail and was about to be booked on his third DUI charge in nine months, which translates to a felony charge.
