Inmate escapes during yard work

On Thursday state inmate Melody Diana Maher, 24, escaped from the North State Street Mississippi Prison Industries location. 

According the the Mississippi Department of Corrections she was last seen around 11:15 a.m. Maher was being housed at the Flowood Community Work Center for two drug related charges.

Maher was convicted in DeSoto County back in January of 2016 for controlled substance within a facility and then again later that month for cocaine possession. She was sentenced to a total of 15 years.
