Investigation Continues in the Death of a Mississippi Soldier

HATTIESBURG, Miss. — There is still no word on what caused the death of Mississippi National Guard Solider Anthony “Tony” Scardino. His body was found last Friday after Scardino went missing during land navigation training at Fort Gordon in Georgia.

Autopsy was performed Sunday and a team from Fort Rucker, Alabama is leading the investigation.

Scardino served twice in Iraq, once in Afghanistan. He graduated from Mississippi College School of Law in May.

Scardino’s funeral will be Thursday morning in Hattiesburg.
