Jackson County Interim Sheriff Wants to Inventory Purchases Made Under Ex Sheriff Byrd

JACKSON COUNTY, Miss. – Inventory at the Jackson County Sheriff Department does not match what is on the books. That is what interim Sheriff Charles Britt told county supervisors last week.

Britt says he is going to catalog everything that was bought under former Sheriff Mike Byrd who had to leave office because of felony charges against him.

According to the Sun Herald, Britt has been told that there are quite a few unmarked cars that are “scattered about in driveways,” and those cars come with gas cards. Also, county supervisors say the number of vehicles belonging to the department may exceed the department’s 300 employees.
