JACKSON COUNTY, Miss.– The Jackson County Board of Supervisors chose their new interim Sheriff for the departed Mike Byrd.
It will be Biloxi Police Maj. Charles Britt who will run the department until November’s election.
The supervisors will appoint him to the position at the January 6 board meeting, according to the Sun Herald.
Former Sheriff Mike Byrd (pictured above) had to resign from office after pleading guilty to federal obstruction of justice charges. Byrd had nearly 29 other felony charges against him dropped.
