Job Fair in Vicksburg Tuesday

VICKSBURG, Miss.- If you’re out of work right now, you aren’t alone. The unemployment rate in the Magnolia state spiked in June to 8.7 percent after having only 8 percent unemployed in May. The Mississippi Department of Employment Security said the increase is from students entering the workforce.

If you’re a recent grad looking for work or someone in need of a job you can check out the job fair in Vicksburg Tuesday.

The job fair will include nearly 50 public and private sector employers. Health care, law enforcement and many other companies will be at the job fair looking to hire.

The event will be held at the Vicksburg Convention Center from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. with some employers ready to hire on the spot. Bring your resume and your best suit and Tuesday could end up being your lucky day.

The Governor’s Job Fair Network of Mississippi organizes the fair. Officials say last year’s event drew 1,100 applicants to meet with about 60 employers.
