Joy Ride Over For Student Who Poses as School Employee

LEAKE COUNTY, Miss. — A Leake Central High School student is in trouble after police said he faked being a school employee and drove a school bus with children in it.

Sheriff Greg Waggoner, did not release the student’s name,  but said the 17-year-old, using  a bogus teacher’s badge i-d, went to Leake Central Elementary School last week and posed as a school bus monitor. To help his story appear more believable,  he also claimed he would be working as a teacher next year.  According to a police report, the student, who identified himself as Coach Brown, was allowed to ride a school bus and eventually convinced the driver to allow him to get behind the wheel.  Teachers, who later became suspicious of the teen’s story, reported him to their principal.

The student has been suspended from school and could be charged with impersonating a teacher and driving a bus without a commercial license.
