VICKSBURG, Miss.–Statutory rape is the charge against James Jefferson, Jr., 33, of Vicksburg, after police got a call about a child under the age of 14 being sexually assaulted about 6 o’clock Tuesday morning/
Vicksburg Police said in a news release that the child was taken to River Region hospital and they they arrested Jefferson not too long after.
The child was released from the hospital. Jefferson was being held at the Issaquena Correction Facility. He was set to go to court today in Vicksburg.
