Killed in Mississippi: Memphis Man Shot by Southaven Police After Incident at Ex-Girlfriend’s

SOUTHAVEN, Miss.–Shot and killed by police in Southaven Saturday, Tim Rook of Memphis may have had a gun when he tried to get away from police who had surrounded his car. The MBI is investigating the shooting.

Action News 5 reported that the shooting happened after Rook kicked in the door to his ex-girlfriend’s house in Southaven. That’s when she called police.

When officers got there, they saw Rook and a woman jump into a car and try to drive off. Police surrounded the car and got the woman out, taking her into custody.

That’s when they say Rook jumped nto the driver’s seat and may have shown cops a gun. He was shot and killed.

The TV station reported Sunday that Rook had a violent past, having shot at people before. His family said he was not that kind of a guy.

The MBI has not made any official comment. They did not release Rook’s name. Family members told media who had been shot.
