JACKSON, Miss. – You may have to find another way to get to Lakeland Drive.
The Mississippi Department of Transportation says it will close the I-55 westbound Lakeland Drive exit permanently to improve traffic flow and reduce accidents.
Before closing the exit, MDOT plans to add an additional turning lane for westbound traffic at the 98B exit. That will allow motorist coming off I-55 N trying to go west towards St. Dominic Hospital to turn right at a traffic light and then make a U-turn to head back west.
Construction is expected to cost about $1.6 million and should be complete in November.
