MOSS POINT, Miss.–It was a Jackson County road block, or DUI checkpoint, where Jones County Public Defender Michael Duane Mitchell, 38, was arrested on a charge of felony pot possession.

The arrest happened Friday and Mitchell spent the weekend in jail, getting out Monday after posting a $2,500 bond, according to TV station WLOX.

The Jackson County Narcotics Task Force took 30 grams of marijuana and two guns from Mitchell when he was arrested.

If he’s convicted he could spend three years behind bars and face a $3,000 fine and there could be trouble with his law license with a felony record.
