A Light Dusting of Snow North, Temperatures Continue Cold, Wintry Mix Possible Sunday

DeSOTO COUNTY, Miss.–A light dusting of snow was being reported Thursday morning in DeSoto County and surrounding areas in north Mississippi as a cold front approached that was expected to reinforce cold air already in place.

A freeze warning was also in effect for much of Mississippi through Friday morning.

“That will slide southeast and weaken as it does so,” said Scott McNeill a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. “But you could get a dusting, especially on elevated surfaces in Tunica, DeSoto, Tate and Marshall counties before it starts to break up in the next couple of hours.”

McNeill said some lows were expected in the upper 20s in north Mississippi. It was expected a little warmer central and south.

“Tonight we’re gonna really plummet.”

You can expect 20s when you wake up Friday all across Mississippi. The same can be said for Saturday morning.

McNeill also said there’s a possibility that north Mississippi could get a wintry mix Sunday night, with another shot of cold air that’s expected to cool it down again for Monday, with highs in the low 40s.
