YAZOO CITY, Miss.–Flooding in the city of Yazoo may have claimed a 9-year-old girl. Crews searched into Sunday night as rains continued to fall, with no sign of the child near where she was last seen. The search was called for the evening and was expected to resume Monday morning.

Yazoo County was under a flood warning Sunday evening and rain covered several city streets, ditches, and a main canal through town, with several inches, perhaps even a foot of water.

The little girl disappeared near a park where she was playing on 8th St. Around 8 p.m. someone reported seeing the girl’s body in a canal.
