Low Natural Gas Prices Lead to Drop in Electricity Bill

JACKSON, MISS– Entergy Mississippi customers are getting a rate decrease in September; and it’s the third one this year.

Lower-than-expected gas prices are driving down the costs of electricity. Folks who use Entergy across the state will see their bill drop an average of $6.50 cheaper than what they’re paying now. That’s about $101.81 for people using 1,000 kilowatt hours a month.

“Natural gas prices have decreased since the third quarter of 2014,” says Haley Fisackerly, Entergy Mississippi’s president and CEO, “Those fuel savings are being flowed back to the customer through a decrease in bills.”

This is actually the third rate decrease for customers this year, making the bill nearly $10 less than it was at the beginning of 2015.
