Madison man given 3 life sentences

CANTON, Miss.- A Madison man has been sentenced to three consecutive life terms. 

James Lee Brent was convicted of armed robbery, kidnapping, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in the Madison County Court. He is a repeat offender, having been convicted twice in 2002 and twice again in 2003, according the the Madison County District Attorney Michael Guest.

In the most recent incident, police report that Brent robbed a Nissan supplier in November of 2015 at a gas station. The man was putting gas in his truck when Brent approached him and demandedmoney. When the man told him he didn’t have any, Brent forced him to drive to an ATM in Gluckstadt and withdraw the cash.

Brent left in the man’s 2008 Chrysler Sebring. The car was later found in Jackson and, after a short foot chase, Brent was arrested.
