The Madison Police Department and Fire Department responded to the scene of an accident on I-55 around 9:13 a.m. on Monday morning.
The officers determined a metal ladder that was was in the center lane of the interstate caused the incident. Three vehicles and an 18-wheeler collided near that area.
The person driving a pick-up truck that was involved in the accident was ejected from the vehicle. Another was also injures. Both were taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center by ambulance.
Officials have not located the owner of the ladder, or how it got in the middle of the road. The investigation is ongoing.
