Man Accused in Machete Killing Was Here Illegally

CANTON, Miss.–It was a love triangle that caused an on-going feud between two Canton area men that eventually led one of them to kill the other, said Sheriff Randy Tucker. The killing was gruesome, with victim Alphonso Rosas Tolentino being decapitated.

His body was found Friday near his home at the West Side Trailer Park just outside of the Canton city limits, said WMGO reporter Jerry Lousteau. WMGO is a News Mississippi affiliate and was first to report the murder and arrest.

The murder weapon, a machete, was found not far from the body. While Tolentino was in the country legally, the man suspected in his death was not and was in Carthage when he was picked up Tuesday.

Eugenio Nolasco, 42, is charged with murder. The two men had dated the same woman and there were also on-going arguments stemming from work and a property dispute.
