Man Arrested for Cyber-Stalking Lee County Sheriff’s Department

TUPELO, Miss.- 35-year-old Charles Lamar Carter was arrested for Facebook-messaging the Lee County Sheriff’s Department in a threatening manner. They started getting the messages on Sunday, and had him in front of a judge by Monday.

Carter is from Verona. He made his initial court appearance on Monday where his bond was set at $100,000. Cyber stalking is a felony, punishable by up to five years in prison and up to a $5,000 fine.

Sheriff Jim Johnson told the North Mississippi Daily Journal that the messages were threatening and intended to create fear. His deputies searched Carter’s home and seized a tablet and cell phone.
