Man Charged in Shooting Lowndes County Deputies

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. — Kenneth Marion Coscia is the man the Highway Patrol says is responsible for three wounded deputies in Lowndes County Tuesday. Coscia is in custody and is facing three charges of aggravated assault along with one charge of shooting into a dwelling.

Coscia apparently shot two deputies with a high powered rifle while they were doing a welfare check in the New Hope area, another deputies was also injured. Clint Simms was shot in the thigh, Larry Swearingen was shot in the abdomen. Both were taken to the hospital and are recovering.
