The Mississippi Department of Corrections kicked off the Commissioner’s Assembly at Parchman and honored three dedicated employees.

Michael Weeks, David Collins, and Arleatha Williams have all been working at the Mississippi State Penitentary at Parchman for 30 years.

The three longtime employees were recognized for their tenure with the agency during the first Commissioner’s Assembly last week.

“I am fully committed to changing the direction of the Department of Corrections,” said Commissioner Pelicia Hall in her address to correctional officers, staff, probation, and parole officers in Region 1. She outlined what employees can expect of her and what she expects of them as this change moves forward.

When asked how much longer Weeks would stay with the MDOC he said the years have flown by and “It’s not easy to leav, I never thought about leaving.

He said don’t expect it to be another 35 years, “I won’t be here for the fall next year,” said Weeks.
