JACKSON, Miss.- Ever wanted a chance to meet your state, local, and community lawmakers? Well the Mississippi Economic Council is hosting an event just for that.
It’s called Capitol Day and this year it’s happening on January 5, 2017 at the Marriot in Downtown Jackson.
“What’s great about the capitol being Jackson, is that it’s almost exactly in the center of the state,” said Blake Wilson, President of MEC.”That means a lunchtime event like this is perfect and still allows time for people to get home for dinner.”
Registration opens for Capitol Day at 8:30 a.m. and until 1:30 p.m. you will hear special programming and have a chance to mix and mingle with lawmakers and officials.
“We came up with this model and it was a huge success from the beginning, we had about 500 people the first year and now we are almost up to 2,000. It’s a great way to meet your legislators, state leaders, and also hearing some great programming.”
