Medicaid records to be computerized

JACKSON, Miss.- Still using a pen and notebook to keep track of your medical records? A new bill was passed in the MS Senate committee to computerize all Medicaid records and hold regular audits.

House Bill 1116 would employ a company to create a computerized record of all Medicaid information. Recipients would then verify the information with officials to determine if the aid being received is still eligible. If a recipient is found currently living in the state they would stop getting the aid within the next three months.

The bill would also require routine audits on the Medicaid information and fraud.

Lawmakers hope that this bill will eliminate Medicaid fraud and allow those services to be given to people who are eligible.
