JACKSON, MISS– Miss Mississippi Laura Lee Lewis of Brookhaven is prepared for the beginning of the Miss America competition which begins on Tuesday.
Preliminary competition is scheduled for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
In the first round of talent competition, Lewis is slated to perform Barbara Streisand’s “Piece of the Sky.”
Part of the tradition for the pageant is the “Parade of Shoes” in which Lewis has planned to wear Muppet-themed shoes in honor of Jim Henson, the Mississippi native behind the ever-so-loved puppets.
The final night is scheduled for Sunday, September 11 at 8pm.
