Miss Mississippi will soon be headed off to Atlantic City to compete for the Miss America Crown, but not before a send off from her home town of Vicksburg.

“I’ve never thought in a million years that I would have a parade in my honor,” said Anne Elizabeth Buys, Miss Mississippi 2017.  “What I am most excited about is that we are including everyone throughout the state and that everyone is going to be able to be a part of it. I am just so excited for that morning.”

Buys’ princesses and fellow contestants from the 2017 Miss Mississippi competition have been invited to participate in the parade as well.

The parade will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 19.

Buys will also be honored with a send off party and a trunk show featuring some of her gowns that she will wear in the upcoming Miss America Competition.

“I will be showing some different things that I will be taking to Atlantic City and I will actually be performing my talent,” said Buys.

The trunk show will be hosted by Laura Lee Lewis, former Miss Mississippi 2016.

“I am completely honored to be Miss Mississippi,” said Buys. “I will do my very best to represent the state to the best of my ability in Atlantic City and to bring home the crown as the fifth Miss Mississippi to be Miss America.”

The Miss America pageant is set to air September 10th.
