Miss. News Briefs: Log Trucks Crash, More Volunteers Need in Louisville

JACKSON, Miss.–Here are some news briefs that could have you giving the teens some extra driver’s ed.

RUN STOP SIGN
You’ve got to make sure your kids that are driving cars are paying good attention. This happened in Chickasaw County on Hwy. 32. MHP says a teenager from Fulton ran the stop sign at the Hwy. 15 intersection and got creamed by a big MDOT 18-wheeler carrying an asphalt paver. It’s a trip to the hospital with serious injuries for the teenager.

LOG TRUCK DEATH
You’ve got to watch out for log trucks. Darien Holmes is dead after two log trucks hit in Jeff Davis County. That happened Tuesday.

SHOT GUY LIVES FOR TRIAL
Maybe he’s tough or maybe he’s lucky. He was shot in the head two years ago, but Bernard Harris is alive and well enough to testify against the guy that cops say did the shooting. This is in Lowndes County. The man on trial is Jerry Lee Darnell and prosecutors are saying he shot Harris while he was sitting in a car, with a woman. Darnell could get 20 years if he’s found guilty.

LOUISVILLE NEEDS VOLUNTEERS
The cleanup in Winston County is not over, in fact nowhere near it, but the number of people helping has been going down. Now the call for help going out. If you can volunteer some of your time, the Winston County crew sure would appreciate it. You can talk to the local emergency management agency.

BAD DUDE

Now here’s one bad dude that won’t be doing any business on the coast in the near future…

KIDS BURGLARIZE LIQUOR STORE
