Miss. Republican U.S. House Members Vote to Sue Obama

WASHTINGTON, D.C. — Suing the president could become a reality. Wednesday, the U.S. House or Representatives approved a resolution authorizing that legal action, and all of your state’s Republican representatives voted for it.

The vote was 225 to 201 with five Republicans and every House Democrat voting against the resolution.

The resolution allows GOP leaders to challenge the president in federal court for overreaching his constitutional authority, particularly challenging failures to execute provision of the Affordable Care Act.

The president has called the “sue move” a stunt while some Democrats have called it as a move impeach the president. House Republican leaders believe it is necessary to protect the Constitution’s separation of powers.
